We will be shooting the full moon rising over Lake Michigan above the Kenosha North Pier Light on May 22.

Before shooting, we will be meeting at a nearby restaurant at 5:00 PM for dinner. The location has not yet been decided, but we will let you know when we have that information.

The full moon is on May 23, but I suggest photographing it the day before for better ambient light. So May 22. We will be shooting from near the parking lot at Simmons Island Beach, address at 5001 Simmons Island Rd, Kenosha, WI 53140

Here are the screen shots from PhotoPills for the event. One is showing the entire scene, and one shows the closer view (the shooting spot will be right at the corner of the parking lot)

The moonrise on that day will be at 7:48 PM, and will be at a height of 50 feet (the height of the lighthouse) at 8:01PM. The moon will be 99.6% full and will appear to be 17 feet wide behind the lighthouse.
The sunset that day is at 8:14 PM, so that gives us plenty of ambient light for shooting.

For this photoshoot you will need a tripod and a long lens (greater than 200 mm is recommended).

Let’s hope for good weather with a clear view of the moonrise!
